This week has been, frankly, exhausting. The final milestone for my film (for this semester) was completed yesterday, which consisted largely of layout shots. Unfortunately, any remaining rig fixes/additions, technical work, and 2D environment incorporation had to take a backseat in order to prioritize completing as many 3D layout animations as I could, as unfortunately the due date shifted and it turned out I only had a week to complete this milestone. Despite the crunch time, I'm actually rather proud of the amount of animations I was able to produce! I had a bit of a setback with one shot, which unfortunately became corrupted and I will end up having to re-animate. A few of the shots I did for this milestone are included below:
But other than that, for this milestone and this semester in general, I'm actually very pleased with the amount of work I've gotten done! There were definitely roadblocks and technical challenges I didn't anticipate, but it has been incredibly satisfying bringing all of this to life and I feel I've definitely improved as an artist, animator, rigger, and modeler, along with a variety of other skills.
I'll likely take a bit of a break over the next week to allow myself to recover from the stress of the past few weeks and to take care of things and work that are not An Toll Dubh, but I have a lot more to get done over winter break, so expect to see more updates from me in the near future!
